Training & Recruitment

We are committed to developing and improving the full range of skills of our people through both internal and external training programmes.

In partnership with ConstructionSkills we are able to offer young people the opportunity to gain qualifications through the modern apprenticeship scheme in carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating or the more specialised shopfitting qualification.

All our people undertake in-house training modules and through ConstructionSkills, Shopfitting Independent Training Forum (SITF) and various national and local colleges are offered opportunities to develop skills and gain certificates in IT, health and safety, first aid, construction design and management and bespoke joinery.

“The four year carpentry and joinery apprenticeship I’m doing at Barbour Shopfitters will qualify me to work on site or in the factory. The training is great as I get the chance to learn from my teachers in college and then do it for real in the factory.”

Partnerships

Our well established network of subcontractors ensures effective and efficient teamwork between ourselves, our builders and specialist tradesmen both on and off site. These strong working relationships allow us to refine and improve upon specifications while work is in progress without creating delays. It also allows us to be flexible if clients require to amend their project briefs.

Sustained partnerships with retail design companies also mean clients benefit from well established working relationships, clear lines of communication and shared experiences.

“My company has had a good working relationship Barbours for over 30 years and we are always promptly paid. Very importantly, in the fast and furious world of shopfitting, we are treated as an integral part of the project team.”
